The hope Nigeria to win medals at the All African Games lie with its military contingent at the on going games in Ghana.
Ghana is hosting the games in two cities namely Accra and Cape Coast.
Nigeria is featuring at the games with a total of 358 athletes including those in the military and para military organizations.
Speaking in Ibadan while reacting to the preparations of the Nigeria contingent at the games, Abimbola Adeoye, a sports promoter said Nigeria was not well prepared for the quadrennial competition adding that this would not have a positive impact on the results at the end of the day.
He explained that all the contingent did not arrive together as they did in pieces while some luggage came after they arrived few days later.
Abimbola said this type of preparation will not portend good for the country pointing out that the chances of Nigeria lie with its military contingent which are well catered for by their various organizations which are well funded by the government.
He observed that the situation in the country is what is rubbing off on the contingent as the economy is bad and income of many Nigerians already devalued due to the high cost of things in the country occasioned by high cost of the dollar vis a vis the naira.
The Sports Promoter stated that only a particular sector, the politicians are the one not feeling the heat of the economy since they are properly remunerated while the rest of Nigerians are merely surviving due to the sudden devaluation of the naira which subsequently reduced their purchasing power.
