Kennery Crooner and fast rising  music sensation, Afe Akorede has  raised his  voice in advocating for increased government investment in the entertainment sector, saying the federal government should invest massively and expand the entertainment industry so as to create an ecosystem that benefits artistes, entrepreneurs, and the nation as a whole.

Afe Akorede who took after Dr. Orlando Owoh’s music  genre and  currently making waves in the industry expressed the  belief  that nurturing the creative arts is not just about cultivating talent but also fostering economic growth, cultural enrichment, and global recognition in Nigeria’s entertainment sector.

ln a resounding call to action, Afe Akorede emphasized  the transformative power of the entertainment industry on the socio economic development of the country, saying huge resources remain untapped therein.

Said he,  “Music, in particular, has the ability to transcend boundaries, unite diverse communities, nations and international communities and serve as a powerful tool for social change. By investing in the sector, the government can harness this potential to create a thriving ecosystem that benefits artistes, entrepreneurs, and the nation as a whole.

Highlighting the economic impact of the entertainment industry, the Kennery maestro said  the country  can generate substantial revenue through various channels such as concerts, album sales, streaming platforms, and licensing, and by  providing financial support, adding that government can stimulate economic growth, create job opportunities, and enhance the overall well-being of citizens.

He emphasized  the need for infrastructural  development within the entertainment sector, saying State-of-the-art recording studios, performance venues, and technology hubs can significantly elevate the quality of artistic production, attracting both local and international talents.”

Afe Akorede contended  that government investment in such infrastructure is an investment in the nation’s global cultural footprint.

According to him, by supporting the entertainment industry, the government can safeguard and promote the rich cultural heritage embedded in music, films, and other art forms. This not only preserves the nation’s identity but also fosters a sense of pride and unity among its citizens.

On an international scale, he said that a thriving entertainment industry serves as a soft power tool, enhancing a country’s global image and influence, adding that Nigerian music, for instance, has gained international acclaim, contributing to the nation’s cultural diplomacy and that government investment in the entertainment sector can further amplify this impact, positioning the country as a cultural powerhouse.

The Kennery crooner then urged government to recognize the pivotal role of the entertainment industry and allocate resources accordingly, by investing in talent, infrastructure, and cultural preservation.

He said government can catalyze a ripple effect that extends far beyond the realm of art, touching the lives of citizens and elevating the nation’s standing on the global stage, saying the harmony of creativity and economic prosperity beckons as a testament to the immense potential awaiting realization through strategic government.
