The Chairman of Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan, Honorable David Babatunde Olaniyan has said the grant of thirty five million being proposed by the state Governor Engr Seyi Makinde for the club is inadequate.
Speaking in an exclusive interview in Ibadan on Thursday,Honorable Olaniyan explained that the sum of thirty five million naira will not meet the financial needs of the the former CAF Cup winners.
He pointed out that the sum of twenty two million is being spent on the salaries of the players and staff adding that the balance is then used to organize the home and away matches.
Honorable Olaniyan said further that in the present day football management , what is left can barely run the club let alone bringing in laurels noting that for this reason , the club needs more than thirty five million.
The Chairman said further that the Oluyole Warriors as the 1996 double Champions are called presently receives the sum of twenty five million which is very much insufficient to meet the financial demand of the 1975 African Cup Winners.
“We implore the Governor to look into our plight and come to our need as we need nothing less than forty five in order to ensure that the club runs very well such that we can be able to be in a good stead to deliver good results at the end of the day” he observed.
“ We are saying this because we want the Governor to intervene immediately and save us from the problem of paucity of funds which is preventing the club from doing well” the Chairman pointed out.
