The Oyo State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has strongly condemned the recent bandit attack and abduction incident in Ahoro-Esinele, in Oriire Local Government area, Ogbomoso, in the state, describing the act as a grave threat to peace, education, and socio-economic stability.

In a statement signed by the State Chairman of the NLC, Comrade Kayode Martins, the labour union expressed deep concern over the attack, which reportedly affected teachers, pupils, and other residents in the area.

The council described the incident as “deeply disturbing and reprehensible,” noting that it had inflicted trauma, fear, and hardship on families, schools, and communities in Ogbomoso.
“The Nigeria Labour Congress, Oyo State Council, strongly and unequivocally condemns the recent bandit attack and abduction incident that occurred in the Ogbomoso axis of Oyo State,” the statement read.
The NLC extended its sympathies to the people of Ogbomoso, the Oyo State Government, and particularly the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), over the unfortunate development.
The union said it stands in solidarity with the leadership and members of the NUT during the difficult period, while praying for strength and healing for affected families.
The labour body also expressed support for the efforts of the Oyo State Government and security agencies to restore peace, rescue the abducted victims, and apprehend those responsible for the attack.
It called for intensified intelligence gathering and coordinated security operations to ensure the safe release of all victims.
Furthermore, the NLC urged security agencies to thoroughly investigate the incident and prosecute the perpetrators in accordance with the law to deter future criminal activities.
“The safety and security of workers, teachers, students, and all residents of Oyo State remain a top priority,” the statement added.
