Governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Oyo State, Prince Kola Musbau Asatola Asanike, has successfully scaled through the party’s screening exercise for the 2027 governorship ticket.

The screening took place at the Kaduna State House, Asokoro in Abuja, where other aspirants from across Oyo State presented their credentials, party records, and track records of service for verification. The process is a mandatory step for all aspirants seeking the party’s nod ahead of the primaries.

Speaking after the exercise, Asanike described the process as peaceful and orderly. He noted that the screening panels carried out their assignment with diligence and fairness, ensuring that justice guided every step of the evaluation.

“The exercise was straight-to-the-point and conducted in an atmosphere of order. I commend the panel for upholding the principles of fairness and due process. It gives aspirants confidence that the party is committed to transparency.”

“What is primary with me is achieving peace within the party and winning the state primaries. My expectation is fairness and equity in the process of picking the candidate. We must space away from actions that may bring disaffection among us,” Asanike said.

The Ibadan Prince and a long-time progressive and grassroots mobilizer, said he was satisfied with the outcome and remains focused on the task of repositioning Oyo State. He reiterated his commitment to running an inclusive campaign rooted in equity, probity, and service to the people.

Party officials at the secretariat said the screening is part of efforts to ensure that only qualified and credible candidates emerge as flagbearers. More aspirants are expected to appear before the panel in the coming days as the APC finalizes its list for the primaries.

With the screening behind him, Asanike said his attention will now turn to deepening consultations with party stakeholders, leaders, and the people of Oyo State as he prepares for the next phase of the contest.
