Lagos state cricket team on Thursday qualified for the final of the Energy and Mineral Resources under 19 south west cricket tournament being held in at the Obafemi Awolowo formerly Liberty stadium , Ibadan cricket oval.
Six teams from the south west are featuring in the competition including Lagos, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti, Oyo and Ogun states with Lagos, Oyo and Ondo states in the same group while Ekiti, Ogun and Osun in the other group.
As of yesterday, Ogun had qualified for the final of the tournament which comes up on Saturday having beaten Osun and Ekiti in their earlier two matches played.
Oyo on its part had won its match against Ondo while it would engage Lagos state later.
Chairman of the Oyo state Cricket Association Okon Ukpong explained that the competition which began on Wednesday after a seminar on Tuesday would offer cricket players opportunity to develop themselves further and eliminate certain things in the games which do not enhance their performance and growth.
He said that coaches equally benefited as they were equally tutored on the new latest developments in the game of cricket as well as the areas where they need to improve upon.
