


The Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Staff Pension Board, Hon Akeem Ademola Ige has charged retirees to continue to support Gov Seyi Makinde-led government in order to enjoy more welfare packages.
Hon Ige gave the charge while delivering a keynote address during the payrolling exercise of the newly retired primary school teachers and local government staff held today at the Local Government Staff Training School Secretariat, Ibadan .
While commending the state governor for consistently putting smiles on the faces of senior citizens since assumption of office, Hon Ige acknowledged that pensioners in Oyo state never had it so good until Gov Seyi Makinde assumes office in 2019. He also noted that for continuity of dividends of democracy being enjoyed by pensiones he appealed to them to cast their votes for anointed candidates of the governor in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.
In their separate goodwill messages, the state Chairman and Secretary, NUP , retired primary school teachers wing, Comrade Dosu Akinpelu and Comrade Tunji Ogunwale respectively commended the governor and briefly highlighted some of the achievements of the present government which include regular payment of pension and gratuity, Fifty Thousand Naira Christmas bonus, Ten Thousand Naira transportation support fund to cushion the effect of the economic hardship, inclusion of all pensioners in the health insurance scheme ( OYSHIA) and many more.
The Permanent Secretary, Local Government Staff Pension Board , Mr Olufemi Akinwale also lauded the governor for considering both workers and pensioners in the scheme of things under the present administration.
He then advised the new retirees that are being payrolled to prioritize their health, eat nutritious meals and interact with family and friends.
The highlight of the event was the symbolic presentation of pension certificates to some of the new retirees.
Heads of Departments, LGSPB and Pension Desk Officers were in attendance at the programme.
