It was a Sunday evening filled with melodies, memories, and heartfelt appreciation as the serene environment of Christ Miracle Church Mission (CMCM) at CMCM Drive, Ishola Bello Street, Akiode, Ojodu, Lagos, transformed into a vibrant gathering of gospel music legends and distinguished personalities.

The occasion was the much-anticipated Gospel Legends Appreciation And Moments of Reminiscence (GLAAMOR) — an event designed to celebrate the pioneers and icons who have shaped Nigeria’s gospel music landscape.

From the early hours of Sunday, March, 8 2026, the church premises buzzed with excitement. Guests arrived in elegant attire, exchanging warm greetings while the sound of gospel hymns floated through the air. The atmosphere carried a sense of reverence mixed with celebration, as both young and old gathered to honour those whose voices and ministries have shaped and inspired generations.
The event which attracted the crème de la crème of the society had eminent personalities from both the secular world and gospel music industry converged side by side to savour the sensation of the occasion, all united by a shared purpose — to celebrate the remarkable contributions of gospel music legends.
Among the highly respected ministers present were Pastor Joseph Adelakun of Ayewa fame, Evangelist (Dr.) Funmi Aragbaiye, (Mama Sioni), Evangelist (Dr.) Bola Are, Bale/Evangelist Remi Aderoju, Evangelist Ojo Ade, Pastor Sam Foli, Rev’d Idowu Animasawun popularly known as Apola King, Rev’d D.A Fasoyin, Bishop Bola Odeleke, Prophetess Victoria Omodudu, Pastor Kunle Ajayi, Pastor Kunle Ajomale, Prophet J.Afolabi Okoto, and Rev’d Sola Rotimi.

Their presence alone was enough to remind attendees of the rich history and enduring legacy of gospel music in Nigeria.
Each arrival was met with applause and admiration from the audience, many of whom had grown up listening to the timeless songs of these ministers. For many guests, it was more than just an event — it was a reunion of voices that had carried faith, hope, and spiritual encouragement through decades.
The visionary behind the gathering was Evangelist Timi Orokoya, fondly known as Telemi, whose passion for honouring gospel pioneers gave birth to GLAAMOR. His dream was simple yet powerful: to create a platform where legends are appreciated while they are still alive, allowing the younger generation to learn from their journeys and sacrifices.
In his address, he said; “We are gathered here today to appreciate God in Rare Worship for His faithfulness over the decades of being in the gospel music industry. We are here to tell the world that it is the Lord’s doing, and we are here to say we are grateful as brothers and sisters in the ministry.
According to him, the vision started in 2024 when he met with some of the the gospel music generals on the need to establish the vision, adding that a platform was created in November same year for the purpose.
“The occasion was aimed to recognize and honour the elders, mentors and the legends who have contributed immensely into the gospel music industry.
“The occasion was designed to establish robust and cordial relationship among the gospel musicians,. adding that as the vessels of honor, there is the need for them all to practice what they sing to the people, especially the young ones.
Hosting the remarkable event was the General Overseer of Christ Miracle Church Mission, (CMCM), Prophet Peter Abiola Adebisi. He expressed joy over the success achieved in the programme.
Speaking with Oodua News on the occasion, the amiable and generous man of God said, ” I am so happy to host and bring together these wonderful vessels of God who have contributed immensely to the gospel music ministry in the country and the world at large over some decades.
“You can see and hear the contents of their songs and music one after the other as they mount the Altar, no doubt, the contents of their songs bare full scriptural message of salvation and moral messages, their songs are made of quality contents, I think they deserved to be recognized and honoured.
Speaking on why he offered to host them, Prophet Adebisi said he bought into the idea when the converner, Evangelist Orokoya (Telemi) approached him on the development, describing the move as divine and purposeful.
He said the purpose was aimed at redefining gospel music and to remind them on the need to continue to build upon their legacies.
With warmth and spiritual grace, Prophet Adebisi described them as wonderful vessels of honour and emphasized the importance of recognizing those who have dedicated their lives to spreading the gospel through music.
Throughout the evening, the church auditorium resonated with powerful performances, emotional tributes, and nostalgic reflections. Songs that once dominated gospel airwaves decades ago were performed again, sending waves of joy and reflection through the audience. Some guests could be seen singing along with closed eyes, reliving cherished memories connected to the music.
Beyond the music, the event also became a moment of storytelling. Many of the legends shared brief reflections about their early days in ministry — the struggles, the faith, and the divine calling that kept them going when gospel music was not as widely celebrated as it is today.
For younger gospel ministers present, it was a rare opportunity to witness history in person. Cameras flashed, conversations flowed, and laughter filled the magnificent CMCM auditorium as old friends reunited and new relationships were formed.
As the evening drew to a close, one thing was clear: GLAAMOR was more than just an appreciation event. It was a celebration of faith, legacy, and the timeless power of gospel music.
For many attendees, the night will remain unforgettable — a sacred moment where legends were honoured, memories were revived, and the future of gospel music was inspired by the giants who paved the way.
The occasion featured award presentation to Prophet Peter Adebisi, late gospel music minister Evangelist Sunny Okosun Lakin Ladeebo, S.O Akinpelu and many others
