Mrs. Otesile was kidnapped at about 8:00 p.m. in front of her residence in the General Gas area of Akobo, Ibadan, Oyo State.
Following the incident, the leadership of the Child Protection Network (CPN), led by its State Coordinator, Dr. Rosemary Odigbo, had written to the Oyo State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, calling for coordinated efforts by the State Executive Council and security agencies to secure her release.
Dr. Odigbo expressed joy and gratitude for Mrs. Otesile’s safe return, noting that the outpouring of coordinated prayers, advocacy, and solidarity demonstrated the collective commitment of child protection stakeholders and other civil society actors in Oyo State.
“Her safe return is a great relief to all of us. We are thankful to God, her family, friends and everyone who played a role in ensuring her freedom. We are also grateful to the leadership of the CPN National, Mr. Sanni Olakunle and all members of CPN Nigeria,” she said.
Mrs. Otesile, a cognitive behavioural therapist, now in company of her loved ones is receiving the necessary care and support following her safe return.
CPN appreciate the widespread concern and ongoing commitment to the safety and welfare of all members dedicated to protecting children and vulnerable groups across Oyo State, Dr. Rosemary Odigbo, stated.
