Tinubu’s reward ‘ll revolutionize sports – ITC elder posits

The former Vice President of Ibadan Tennis Club (ITC) and member of the ITC Elders Forum, Chief Ayo Folorunso has stated that the recent reward of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the Nigeria national female team, the Super Falcons and the nation’s female basketball team D’Tigress will act as a catalyst which will spur many young men and women to victory for Nigeria and theirselves.

Chief Ayo Onike who spoke in Ibadan posited that it was the reward which encouraged the D’Tigress to perform well to the extent of becoming African champions because they knew that they would be rewarded by President Tinubu.

He observed that there is a difference between reward and payment and debt which many Nigerians are equating to be same noting that the two Nigerian national teams brought honor and fame to Nigeria contrary to what obtains in the past when the name of the country was dragged in the mud or portrayed in bad light by some undesirable elements.

The former ITC boss explained that what the two teams did was invaluable or qualifiable in monetary terms adding that the reward by President Tinubu was in order as it would spur many Nigerians to do well for the nation because they know that they will be rewarded at the end of the day.

Recalled that President Tinubu rewarded the Super Falcons and the D’Tigress which won African Championship in the football and basketball genre of sports with naira equivalent of one hundred thousand dollars each an Officer of the Niger (OON) award and a three bedroom apartment in New Hope estate in Abuja for every player while the technical officials got naira equivalent of fifty thousand dollars each recently to set a precedence and standard of reward for sport men and women.
