The Oyo State Commissioner for Works, Public Road and Transport, Mr. Abdulmojeed Mogbanjubola on Friday announced that a total of 545klm out of 781klm targeted road projects in the state have been constructed and completed in the past six years.
The Commissioner disclosed this at the Inter-Ministerial briefing in commemoration of 2nd anniversary of Governor Seyi Makinde’s second term in office, held at the Secretariat, Ibadan.
Mogbonjubola who said work is ongoing on the remaining 236km, revealed that the State government through the Ministry has completed about 95% asphaltic improvements on selected inner roads across the state.
He attributed the increase in the budget of Ibadan circular road project, from 66 billion naira to 92 billion naira, to the impact of exchange rate fluctuations, after a review of the 110 kilometres project.
The Commissioner also hinted that the ongoing infrastructural projects including Iwo road bus terminal which is over 90% completed, would boost the state economy and transportation system.
He assured residents of areas with deplorable roads to be patient with government, saying those roads will receive the needed attention soon.
