The President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Oyo State Chapter, Hon. Okechukwu Umeh, has assured the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP Johnson Adenola, of the continued cooperation and support of the Igbo community in promoting peace and security across the state.

Hon. Umeh gave the assurance during a courtesy visit by the executive members of Ohanaeze Ndigbo to the Police Command Headquarters, Eleyele, Ibadan, on May 29, 2025.
According to him, the visit was to congratulate CP Adenola on his assumption of duty in the state, foster a working relationship, and reaffirm the commitment of the Igbo community to peaceful coexistence and lawfulness under his leadership.
“We are here to congratulate you on your appointment and to familiarize ourselves with your leadership. Since your assumption of duty, the state has witnessed notable peace and order, and we are here to assure you of our support and cooperation,” Umeh said.
He also encouraged officers and men of the command to remain committed to their duties in service to both the state and the nation, emphasizing the significance of their roles in maintaining societal order.
“You are more than just law enforcers. You are nation-builders, the guardians of peace and the first line of defense in times of crisis. Many of you face dangers that the average citizen may never fully understand. But remember—God sees you, knows your efforts and sacrifices, and will reward you.”
Hon. Umeh further appealed for the continued protection of the Igbo community in Oyo State and expressed hope for a solid relationship with the police command.
He appreciated CP Adenola for the warm reception, describing him as a firm and visionary leader.
In his response, CP Adenola described the visit as historic and commended the Ohanaeze Ndigbo executives for their gesture. He pledged that the command would continue to uphold the highest standards of policing and assured the community of their safety.
In a related development, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo team, led by Hon. Umeh, also paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman of the Oyo State Road Transport Management Authority (OYRTMA), Major Adekoya Adesegba (Rtd), and his team.
