The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Oyo State, has commemorated its 52nd anniversary with a series of impactful activities, celebrating the scheme’s legacy and honoring key stakeholders for their contributions to its success.

Leading the celebrations, the Oyo State Coordinator, Comrade Odoba Abel Oche, joined members of staff and Corps members in a symbolic road walk and a facility tour of ongoing projects at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Iseyin.

Themed “Unity in Diversity: Our Prosperity,” the anniversary programme commenced with a unity road walk that kicked off from the NYSC State Secretariat at Agodi-Gate, Ibadan, after which a symbolic stop was made at the Oyo State Governor’s Office, where Comrade Odoba addressed participants and highlighted the importance of the scheme to Nigeria’s unity and development.
He acknowledged the invaluable contributions of the scheme’s founding fathers and commended past and present managers of NYSC for their steadfast commitment to its growth and relevance.
Comrade Odoba also expressed deep appreciation to the Oyo State Government under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde for consistently prioritizing the welfare of Corps members and creating an enabling environment for them to thrive. He reaffirmed the NYSC’s dedication to supporting the state’s development goals across various sectors.
“The government and people of Oyo State have been instrumental to the success of the Scheme here. NYSC Oyo will continue to work hard to ensure our impact is felt across all necessary sectors,” he said.
A major highlight of the celebration was a facility tour of key projects at the Orientation Camp, Iseyin, including a soon-to-be-completed 5,000-capacity multipurpose hall and a newly completed 10-room staff quarters. The tour was attended by retired NYSC Southwest Director, Mr. Amusan Oluwole Julius, and other notable stakeholders.
Mr. Amusan praised Comrade Odoba for his visionary leadership, describing the legacy projects as “unprecedented” and hailed him as a rare blessing to both the NYSC and the nation.
