Chairman of Adewale Group of Club Adewale Micheal Olanrewaju has stated that he would believe in the proposed plan of the Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC) Mallam Shehu Dikko when they come into fruition.
Speaking in Ibadan in reaction to the plan of the NSC boss Mallam Dikko to reconstruct and rejuvenate all major stadia in the country which belongs to the Federal government, Adewale noted that it was a grand plan which would be good if executed but quickly said he believes it lies in the realm of imagination and conjecture.
Mallam Dikko has said recently in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) that NLC will give a facelift to the Moshood Abiola stadium, Ahmadu Bello stadium, Kaduna, National stadium, Surulere , Lagos and the Liberty Stadium later renamed the Obafemi Awolowo stadium, Ibadan as the body has engaged European consortium firm in a partnership to renovate the stadia in question.
The Chairman of Adewale Group of Clubs said the impact of the scheme if done will reverberate through the south west as many budding talent would be discovered in the process hence bring growth to sports in the zone and Nigeria at large.
He observed that the cog in the wheel of progress is the inability of the NSC to carry out its policies noting that previous administration have made such promises without anything to show for it.
Adewale therefore cautioned that such policy even though good on paper should be believed when executed pointing out that rejoicing about it just because it was proposed is akin to counting one’s chicken before they are hatched.
He noted that similar promises had been made by Mallam Dikko predecessors regarding the stadia stressing that the only thing that came after it were visits upon visits to the different arena without any concrete thing being done about them.
