The National Publicity Secretary of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Barrister Ladipo Johnson, has urged party members in Oyo State to unite and collaborate with stakeholders to build a strong opposition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Johnson gave the charge on Wednesday in Ibadan during the inauguration of the party’s caretaker committee at the NNPP state office.
He explained that the exercise was necessary to appoint leaders who will coordinate the restructuring and strengthening of the party in the state in preparation for the upcoming elections.
Administering the oath of office and oath of allegiance to the new committee members, Barrister Johnson tasked them with expanding the party’s presence across all local governments in the state to build a solid grassroots base.
“The committee has six months from today to carry out its responsibilities before the commencement of the Congress. We expect you to be fair, faithful, and committed leaders, working diligently from ward to ward to position the party for success in 2027,” he stated.
Johnson revealed that following a post-2023 elections review, the NNPP’s National Working Committee identified Oyo State as one of the states requiring reorganization.
“As part of our efforts to reposition the party, we decided to inaugurate a caretaker committee in Oyo State to unify party members across the 33 local governments and facilitate a fresh congress from ward to state level,” he added.
He commended party members for their commitment despite the previous dissolution of the party’s structures, noting that many remained active and dedicated.
“I encourage you all to cooperate with the caretaker committee and stakeholders. The national and zonal leadership of the party will support you every step of the way to build a formidable opposition and bring positive change to Nigeria,” Johnson assured.
In his remarks, the newly inaugurated caretaker chairman, Alhaji Adeleke Adewale, expressed gratitude to the party’s leadership for the opportunity, pledging that the committee will fulfill its mandate within the six-month timeframe.
He called for unity and cooperation among party members statewide to ensure the committee’s success, emphasizing that NNPP remains a major political force in both the state and the country.
Other members of the caretaker committee include Funmilayo Adeniyi Adewale (Secretary), Kayode Olukemi Esther (Treasurer), Ojo Olalekan Abiodun (Member), and Gbadamosi Waslat Ayinke (Member).
The event was attended by notable figures including the state party leader, Dr. Yinka Folahan; South West Vice Chairman of the NNPP, His Royal Highness, Prince Demola Ayoade; as well as representatives from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Department of State Services (DSS).
