Emmanuel Alayande University of Education VC Urges New Students to Embrace Discipline, Hard Work, Matriculates 3,474 for 2024/2025 Session

The Vice-Chancellor of Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo State, Professor Olanrewaju Ademola Olaniyan, has advised the newly admitted students for the 2024/2025 academic session to commit to their studies with diligence, passion, and perseverance to achieve academic excellence.

Professor Olaniyan gave the charge during the university’s 2nd matriculation ceremony, held on March 27, 2025, at the BOT Hall, where 3,474 students were officially inducted into the institution.

According to him, the university stands for academic excellence, personal growth, integrity, and community engagement.

“I congratulate you on your matriculation into Emmanuel Alayande University of Education. I urge you to study hard and pursue your education with great determination so that you can graduate with flying colors,” he stated.

Reflecting on the university’s progress, Professor Olaniyan recalled that the institution matriculated its first set of students ten months ago, naming them the “Pace Setter Generation.” He praised their performance and welcomed the new entrants as the “Eagle Generation.”

“Today, we are unleashing these matriculants as the Eagle Generation to follow in the footsteps of the Pace Setter Generation. Our university is destined for greatness. I see bright, energetic, and brilliant individuals in beautiful gowns, ready to be matriculated,” he added.

He further revealed that over 4,000 students applied for admission, out of which 3,474 were accepted. However, 2,887 students were officially matriculated across the five faculties of the university.

“Our university has the capacity to admit over 10,000 students. This year, the Faculty of Science has the highest enrollment, with 737 students, while the Faculty of Vocational Innovation and Engineering has the lowest, with 452 students,” he noted.

Professor Olaniyan urged the students to guard their freedom jealously, using it responsibly and avoiding negative influences.

“Your freedom is not a license to engage in unworthy activities. Use it wisely for personal and academic growth,” he cautioned.

He assured the students that the university would provide all necessary resources to help them become intellectuals who can compete globally.

The guest speaker, Professor Olatunde Fawole, former Rector of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, while congratulating the students  encouraged them to remain focused. He also warned them against distractions and Indiscipline

“Avoid distractions and immorality. Always remember why you are in this university. Choose your friends wisely to avoid bad influences,” he advised.

Professor Fawole also emphasized the importance of discipline, urging students to obey the institution’s rules and report any incidents of intimidation, harassment, or bullying through appropriate channels.

“The school will not tolerate any act of indiscipline. Any violation of the rules will attract sanctions,” he warned.

He assured the students that the university remains committed to providing sound academic and moral training, adding that their matriculation marks the beginning of a strong foundation for their future.
