
The Balogun babalaje of Ibadan land Chief Ayo Folorunso has implored Oyo state government l d by Engr Seyi Makinde to assist traders whose shops were gutted by the fire disaster which occurred at the Alesinloye market on Wednesday.
Reacting to the inferno, Chief Folorunso also known as Ayo Onike stated that many of the affected traders will be unable to recover if not assisted due to the fact that many are on loan while some may not be able recover from shock that accompanied the disaster.
He bemoaned a situation where there were no basic facilities needed to fight the inferno noting that even the ones which came from outside Ibadan ran out of water thus allowing the fire to ravage the side of the market where it occurred.
Chief Folorunso explained that preventive and proactive measures have to be taken in order to prevent this kind of occurrence pointing out that Nigeria has to key into international best practices of fighting fire disaster instead of remaining static while things deteriorate.
Recalled that fire disaster ravaged the popular Alesinloye market on Wednesday with no fewer than 500 hundred shops being burnt in the inferno.
Recalled also that the Oyo state fire brigade station located near the market could not do much as it ran out of water besides unable to operate the rest of its trucks because they were obsolete and in a state of disrepair.
Chief Folorunso said further that many of the traders lost their goods apart from the fact that some even had money burnt in shop during the inferno stressing that without financial assistance many of the traders will be unable to return back to business because they have been incapacitated by the disaster and will therefore need help to do.
