Catholic priest preaches moderation during thanksgiving, harvest.

The Parish Priest of St. Charles Lwanga Catholic Church,off Bovas Filling Station, Ring Road, Ibadan Reverend Father Julius Sangokeye has preached on harvest and barsar saying they should apply moderation while balancing it with God’s injunctions.

Speaking during the mass heralding the harvest and barsar proper held in the premises of the church off Bovas filling station, Adeoyo way, Ring Road , Ibadan Reverend Sangokeye who quoted copiously from the book of Deutronomy and Timothy as well as Proverbs from
the Good news Bible noted that Catholic should not desist from giving a ten percent of their harvest but this should be done with moderation.
He explained that as Christians they should not refused to give their harvest because it is an injunction from God which demands that they bring a particular percentage of their harvest to him through the Priest for thanksgiving and blessings.
He stressed the need for this to be balanced by not overdoing it and regretting their actions there after noting that the economy of Nigeria is very bad and discouraging.
Reverend Sangokeye said further that as Christians they should always give thanks through their harvest pointing that this is something that must been done even though they should not attempt to tempt the almighty God through their actions by giving all and expecting a miracle bearing in mind that the country is going through difficult economic situation.
The Priest however posited that the economic situation should however not dissuade them from engaging in thanksgiving and harvest since the benefit is manifold and rewarding as the almighty God has a way of rewarding those who obey His injunctions.
The occasion witnessed societies in the church including St Francis, St Joseph, St Monica and Mary , Legion of Mary , Catholic Men Organization (CMO) and the Catholic Women Organization ( CWO) as well as the PMS taking the various gifts to the Priests at the alter for blessings following which their was barsar sales where many parishioners and guests participated fully
