
The Oyo State Director of the Department of State Services (DSS) Mr R.A Adelakun has pledged the support of the state command to customs operations including joint surveillance efforts, training initiatives, and resource-sharing, aimed at fostering a secured environment conducive to economic growth in the state.

Mr Adelakun made the pledge during a courtesy visit to the Customs Area Controller of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Oyo/Osun Area Command Dr. Ben Oramalugo on Thursday.

The visit aimed at strengthening inter-agency collaboration and enhancing security operations in the state, took place at the operational Headquarters of the Oyo/Osun Area Command.

The State Director of Security Service said the visit to the Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigerian Customs Service signifies a step forward in reinforcing the partnership between the two agencies.

Mr. R.A. Adelakun fsi+ highlighted the crucial role of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in curbing illicit trade and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

He also discussed key security challenges affecting the Oyo and Osun states, including cross-border smuggling, illegal trade activities, and border security management.
Responding during the visit, Dr. Ben Oramalugo PhD, Cert. Harvard, FCIA, FNIM the Customs Area Controller expressed his appreciation for the State Director’s visit, noting that it underscored the importance of strategic partnerships in combating security threats.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Oyo/Osun Area Command to working closely with other security agencies especially with the Department of State Services (DSS) to safeguard the nation’s borders.
Dr. Oramalugo highlighted the critical role the Department of State Services (DSS) plays in supporting customs operations, especially in intercepting vehicles suspected of concealing contraband/Prohibited items or engaging in smuggling activities.
He added that the support of the Department of State Services (DSS) is invaluable in the Command’s efforts to suppress smuggling, saying he was optimistic, the visit will further strengthen the already existing partnership and collaboration between both agencies of the Federal Government to achieving mutual objectives.
