The Chairman of Aryfad Travels and Tours Limited, Ibadan, Oyo State, Chief (Dr.) Raymond Adeyinka Adewale, has urged Nigerians to renew their commitment and cooperation in the rebirth of a new Nigeria, where citizens enjoy equal rights and the true dividends of democracy.
Dr. Raymond made this call on the occasion of Nigeria’s 64th independence anniversary, stressing that the only way to move the nation forward is through collective responsibility, cooperation, and renewed dedication from all citizens.
In his statement, Dr. Raymond said, “Today marks a remarkable milestone in our nation’s history—the 64th anniversary of Nigeria’s independence. Sixty-four years ago, on October 1st, 1960, our great nation gained its freedom, and we embarked on a journey of self-governance, unity, and progress. It is with immense pride and gratitude that we celebrate this day, reflecting on the path we have walked and the bright future ahead.”
“This anniversary is not just a celebration; it is a tribute to the resilience and strength of the Nigerian people. Over the years, we have faced challenges—economic, political, and social—but we have remained steadfast, united in our diversity, and committed to the values that make our country unique.”
He emphasized Nigeria’s diversity, noting, “From the far North to the deep South, from the East to the West, we are a tapestry of cultures, languages, and traditions, woven together by a shared history and an unbreakable spirit of unity. Hence, the call for renewed commitment and cooperation from all citizens.”
Reflecting on the nation’s progress, Dr. Raymond stated, “Our journey has not been without its hurdles, but we have grown stronger and more united. We have witnessed the strength of our democracy, the vibrancy of our people, and the creativity of our youth. The progress we have made, whether in education, healthcare, technology, or infrastructure, is a testament to our resilience and determination to build a better nation for ourselves and future generations.”
As Nigerians celebrate 64 years of independence, Dr. Raymond stressed the importance of honoring the sacrifices of past heroes—those who fought for freedom, envisioned a united Nigeria, and continue to work tirelessly for the country’s growth and development.
He also acknowledged the contributions of everyday Nigerians: “Let us remember the unsung heroes among us—the farmers, teachers, healthcare workers, entrepreneurs, artists, and every Nigerian who has contributed to the nation’s success in their unique way. Today is also a time to reaffirm our commitment to peace, unity, and progress.”
“Our diversity is our strength, and when we come together, there is nothing we cannot achieve. The road ahead may still have challenges, but with faith, hard work, and a shared vision, we will continue to rise. Nigeria’s future is bright, and it is in our hands to shape it.”
Dr. Raymond also called on the nation’s leaders to use this anniversary as a reminder of their responsibility to govern with integrity, vision, and a heart for the well-being of all Nigerians.
To the citizens, he said, “Let this day inspire us all to continue contributing positively to our nation’s growth, to uplift one another, and to nurture the unity and peace that our forefathers fought for.”
He concluded by saying, “On this 64th anniversary of Nigeria’s independence, I congratulate every Nigerian, at home and abroad. Let us celebrate not just the achievements of the past but the boundless potential of our future. Together, with unity, we will continue to build a Nigeria we can all be proud of.”
