The commendation followed the stride of the governor’s initiative in his recent upgrade of the Ibadan Airport to International status.

According to the Philanthropist, governor Makinde has deployed high level of leadership on what can be termed a new dawn in the economic development of Oyo state.

I wish to extend my heartfelt commendation on the remarkable achievement of the governor in upgrading the Ibadan Airport to international status. This visionary project will undoubtedly enhance the economic landscape of Oyo State, positioning it as a strategic hub for both domestic and international businesses.

“Your commitment to improving infrastructure reflects a deep dedication to the development of the state, and it will significantly boost tourism, trade, and investment opportunities.

“I want to thank you for your tireless efforts in fostering growth and progress in the state, this upgrade will not only open doors to greater economic prosperity but also serve as a lasting legacy of your impactful leadership.”

Sir Kinze Okonkwo who described the development as  a milestone that will leave an indelible mark on the future of Oyo State noted that by making Ibadan Airport an international hub, will effectively open  new doors for Oyo State to the global stage, facilitating economic growth, cultural exchange and international collaboration.

He said the development is a testament to the governor’s  visionary leadership and  commitment to infrastructural development in his pursuit of excellence in governance, adding that the achievement cannot be understated.

” For decades, the potential of Ibadan, as a major city and economic powerhouse in the Southwest, has been hampered by the lack of a world-class airport. The upgrade of the airport to accommodate international flights will transform the city’s landscape, creating a more dynamic business environment, boosting tourism, and fostering foreign investments.

” It will undoubtedly increase the ease of doing business in the state, attracting multinational corporations, investors, and industries, which will, in turn, generate jobs and stimulate local economies. This is a monumental step towards making Oyo State an industrial hub in Nigeria.”

“The direct and indirect benefits of this upgrade are far-reaching. On the one hand, the international airport will serve as a critical transportation link for industries across the state and beyond, especially for those in manufacturing, agriculture, and technology.

“Oyo State, known for its rich agricultural produce, can now reach international markets more efficiently as perishable goods such as cocoa, cashews, and fruits can be exported directly from Ibadan, ensuring fresher products reach global markets, ultimately increasing revenue for farmers and exporters.

“Moreover, this upgrade will enhance tourism in Oyo State, a state rich in cultural heritage, history, and natural beauty. The ease of access will encourage international tourists to explore historical landmarks in the state.”

According to Sir Okonkwo, the development will improve the lives of the people of Oyo State through strategic infrastructure development, describing the  achievement as a continuation of the successes the people of the state have witnessed in sectors like healthcare, education, road infrastructure, and agriculture under his leadership.

He then called for greater collaboration and support from the people of the state to enable the governor achieve more developments in  the state.
