Federal House of Reps Hopeful, Bukunyi Olagbegi Hosts Star-Studded Gospel Concert in Owo, Promises Bigger Edition

 Residents of Owo in Ondo State on Wednesday April 1st, 2026 witnessed an uplifting evening of praise and worship as a Federal House of Representatives hopeful for the Owo/Ose Federal Constituency, Hon. Bukunyi Olagbegi, hosted a grand gospel music concert tagged “Praise the Lord Owo.”

The event, held at the Methodist Church in the Fajuyi area of Owo, drew a large crowd of worshippers and gospel music lovers from across the area and beyond. The concert featured renowned gospel music ministers, including Evangelist (Dr) Funmi Aragbaiye (JP), Evangelist (Dr) Yinka Ayefele (MON), Evangelist Yinka Alaseyori, among other notable performers, who led attendees in powerful sessions of praise and worship.

Catching point was the sensational performance of Evangelist (Dr) Aragbaiye, followed by Evangelist Yinka Ayefele  and Evangelist Yinka Alaseyori. They thrilled the audience and worshipers with their irrisistable songs, thus, lighting up the area with their melodious and inspirational songs.

Mounting the stage, Evangelist (Dr) Funmi Aragbaiye popularly addressed as Mama Sioni dazzled the guests and worshippers with her powerful songs and performance. She sang her ever green songs  like Sioni Ilu Ayo and few others, an occasion which had the people danced and chorused the songs along with her.

Speaking on the event, Hon. Olagbegi explained that the inspiration for the concert stemmed from a personal worship experience that began in his home. He said he felt compelled to extend the initiative to the wider Owo community as a way of expressing gratitude to God for His continued blessings.

“I started the worship from my home, and I got the inspiration to extend it to the people of Owo to honor God for His goodness,” he said. “Praising God is a good thing because His mercy and grace are constant upon His people, and I believe this will continue to grow bigger and better.”

He emphasized the importance of communal worship and its role in fostering unity, faith, and hope among the people, assuring that the concert would become an annual event, with plans already underway for an even bigger edition next year.

Hon. Olagbegi expressed appreciation to the people of Owo for their overwhelming support and participation, noting that their turnout and enthusiasm underscored the community’s strong spiritual foundation.

The “Praise the Lord Owo” concert is expected to become a significant faith-based gathering in Ondo State, blending music, worship, and community engagement in a celebration of gratitude and unity.

Earlier, legendary gospel minister Dr. Funmi Aragbaiye led other top gospel ministers on a visit to the palace of the Olowo of Owo, Oba Dr. Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III.

Dr. Aragbaiye, who offered prayers for the king and the entire kingdom, commended the monarch for the remarkable progress Owo has recorded since his ascension to the throne.

Mama Sioni described Oba Gbadegesin as a leader and father of impeccable character, whose reign has continued to foster peace and tranquility among the people of the Owo Kingdom. 

In his remarks, Evangelist Yinka Ayefele thanked the monarch for the warm reception given to them,  adding that he drew inspiration for his music from Dr. Orlando Owoh, noting that Owo has remained an important part of his musical journey.

Also speaking, the convener of “Praise the Lord Owo,” Hon. Olagbegi, informed Kabiyesi that the inspiration for the concert stemmed from a personal worship experience that began in his home. He explained that he felt compelled to extend the initiative to the wider Owo community as a way of expressing gratitude to God for His continued blessings.

He further thanked the monarch for his visionary, fatherly role and his contributions to the success of the programme.

In his response, the highly revered monarch, Oba Gbadegesin, expressed appreciation to Hon. Olagbegi for bringing the “Praise the Lord Owo” worship initiative to the community, describing it as a welcome development.

The monarch also described the people of Owo as loving and accommodating, assuring them of his continued support for the programme and similar initiatives within the community
