


The Oyo State College of Health Science and Technology, Eleyele, Ibadan, on April 1, 2026, proudly celebrated its 93rd Founders’ Day, commemorating over nine decades of excellence in health education and professional training.
The landmark event brought together an array of dignitaries, including staff, students, alumni, and distinguished guests, all united in celebrating the institution’s enduring legacy and contributions to the healthcare sector.

In her welcome address, the Provost, Pharm. Oluyemisi Moradeke Oyewo, warmly received attendees and reflected on the college’s remarkable journey. She highlighted key milestones achieved over the years and emphasized the institution’s commitment to innovation, dedication, and continuous improvement in advancing health education.
Delivering the opening remarks, the Chairman of the Governing Council, Hon. Babatunde Olaniyan, commended the collective efforts of the management, staff, and students in sustaining the college’s reputation as a center of excellence in health training.
Providing a vibrant student perspective, the President of the Students’ Union Government (SUG), Mr. Wisdom Babalola, delivered a goodwill message. He expressed pride on behalf of the student body, noting their privilege to be part of an institution with such a rich and enduring heritage.
A major highlight of the celebration was the academic segment, which featured two impactful lectures. The first lecture, titled “Innovation for Impact: The Future of Public Health Education for Good Health and Wellbeing,” was delivered by Dr. Isiaka Ayodeji, South West Coordinator of the World Health Organization (WHO). He underscored the critical role of innovation in shaping the future of public health education and improving community wellbeing.
Adding cultural flair to the event, students entertained guests with a captivating cultural dance performance, showcasing the rich traditions and heritage of the region.
The second lecture, “Nine Decades of Legacy: Strengthening Human Resources for Health for the Future,” was presented by Dr. Taoheed Olanrewaju of the Department of Community Health, College of Health Sciences and Technology, Yaba. He examined the institution’s contributions to healthcare development over the past 93 years and stressed the need for continued investment in human resources to meet emerging health challenges.
In a notable development, the Alumni Association performed the sod-turning ceremony for a proposed hostel project, signaling their commitment to supporting infrastructural growth and enhancing student welfare.
The well-attended event concluded with renewed optimism, as participants celebrated the institution’s achievements while looking ahead to a future of sustained growth, innovation, and excellence in health education.
