

The Oyo State Local Government Staff Pension Board has payrolled another set of newly retired Primary School Teachers and Local Government Staff.

Speaking today at the event held at the Local Government Staff Training School, Secretariat, Ibadan, the Chairman of the Board, Hon Akeem Ademola Ige commended the state governor , Engr Oluseyi Makinde for his unprecedented unwavering commitment to workers and pensioners welfare since assumption of office.
The Chairman also applauded the governor for being consistent in the regular payment of pensions and gratuity, noting Governor Makinde recently approved the upward increase in the Board’s monthly allocation from One Billion Naira to Three Billion Naira.
Hon Akeem Ige explained that the new retirees drawn across the thirty three Local Governments were considered for inclusion in the monthly voucher for collection of pension after the completion of the processing and approval of their retirement benefits.
In his opening remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Local Government Staff Pension Board, Mr Olufemi Akinwale said the authority of the Board is firmly committed to ensuring seamless and stress free retirement process for all retirees and commended the state governor for prompt release of funds for regular payment of pension and gratuity.
The programme featured health talk by the Permanent Secretary, Ibadan Health Office 1 , Dr Tunde Aremu who advised the new retirees to adopt a healthy lifestyle by taking their physical, mental and social health seriously. That they should eat wisely, engage in regular physical activities, learn to laugh, do annual health check up and take medications as prescribed by medical practitioners.
Also, while speaking on Post active service life, the former Secretary of the Board and retired Head of Local Government Administration in the state Local Government Service, Dr Ayodele Busari emphasized the need for retirees to nurture their families and friends, manage their finances by spending wisely , live within their means, stay engaged not live a solitary life, let go of stressors capable of affecting their physical, emotional and psychological well-being adversely.
Pension Certificates and other approved retirement documents were later presented to the new retirees.
Responding on behalf of all the newly payrolled retirees , Mr Ebo Olalekan and Mrs Akintunde took turns to express gratitude to Governor Seyi Makinde for prioritizing pensioners welfare and also thanked the authority of the Oyo State Local Government Staff Pension Board for complementing the efforts of the governor.
Free medical check up such as blood pressure , blood sugar level and HIV tests were also provided for the retirees.
