The Chairman Adewale Football Club Adewale Micheal Olanrewaju has thumped up President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the largesse to Super Falcons players in the wake of the last Women African Cup of Nations (WAFCON)
Recalled that President Tinubu rewarded the players and their coaches handsomely in a manner unprecedented by giving each one them the sum of one hundred and fifty thousand dollars.
Speaking in Ibadan, Coach Olanrewaju explained that the largesse by President Tinubu had a ripple effect in the female grassroots football in Nigeria so much that the grassroots coaches are motivated to do more in contrast to their male counterparts who are disillusioned due to the uncharitable and ungrateful attitude of the male players.
He noted that the female players often show gratitude whenever called upon by their coaches by providing balls and other equipment that will enhance training while the male counterparts ignore calls and rebuff any attempt to make them spend any thing on their previous teams.
“President Tinubu should continue with what he started by rewarding the ladies because most of their coaches benefited from the largesse quietly without making any noise or fuse about it whereas the male players tend to be adventurous in nature by clubbing and buying expensive stuffs to impress their girls rather than give a little to their former clubs”
“I have two girls who are playing in Nigeria and they answer calls whenever called upon to do something for their club compared to over twenty boys whom I trained and who are earning tens of what the girls are earning but have refused to do anything” he noted.
“ They prefer to pass through the team and get whatever tech knowledge and then move on and forget totally their previous club” Olanrewaju stated.
On the Pacesetters football club chances, he observed that the team would avoid the drop in to the lower division despite starting badly due to the poor quality of the players recruited during the first stanza of the Nigeria Premier Female football league.
Olanrewaju added that Pacesetters had beefed up the team with quality players compared to what they had at the beginning noting that with coach Akeem Busari navigating the team , it will beat the relegation hurdle and be able to start well next season.
