

In a move aimed at fostering stronger ties and collaboration within Nigeria’s creative industry, Evangelist Dr. Funmi Aragbaiye on Monday paid a courtesy visit to the Management of Musical Copyright Society Nigeria (MCSN) at its Olabamiro office, off Allen Avenue, in Ikeja, Lagos.


The visit, a familiarisation exercise, was designed to further establish collaboration and a robust working relationship between the respected gospel music minister and the foremost copyright management body.


The meeting had in attendance, the Secretary of Performing Musician Association of Nigeria, (PMAN), Oyo State Chapter, Psalmist (Dr) Adeolu Afolami, Editor of Oodua News Newspaper Ibadan, Comrade Richard Thomas, Rev’d (Dr) Mrs Olubunmi Bakare and other key stakeholders.
The occasion as it were signaled renewed commitment toward collaboration, advocacy, and the protection of intellectual property rights in Nigeria.
Evangelist (Dr.) Funmi Aragbaiye’s visit to MCSN underscored the importance of synergy between artistes, administrators, and regulatory institutions in advancing the interests of creative professionals.
Evangelist (Dr.) Funmi Aragbaiye who expressed satisfaction on the warm reception extended to her by the management of the agency, said there is the need for MCSN management to further extend robust working relationship, opportunities, copyright protection, and strengthening structures that ensure artistes receive due compensation for their works.
Speaking, the Secretary of the Performing Musicians Employers’ Association of Nigeria (PMAN), Oyo State chapter, Psalmist (Dr.) Adeolu Afolami, described the visit as a welcome development. He commended Evangelist Aragbaiye for taking proactive steps to engage directly with MCSN leadership for advancement of the music industry and the agency.
“This visit is highly commendable,” Afolami noted. “It reflects a sincere desire to build bridges and support institutions that are working tirelessly to protect the rights and livelihoods of musicians across the country.”
In his address during the engagement, the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of MCSN, Mr. Mayowa Ayilaran, reaffirmed the society’s commitment to expanding its operational frontiers and strengthening its service delivery.
He commended Evangelist (Dr) Funmi Aragbaiye for the visit, assuring that it will foster strong collaboration between her and the agency.
“Evangelist Funmi Aragbaiye remains one of the foremost gospel music minister in Nigeria, whose evergreen gospel songs has had positive impact in the lives of people all over the world and the Industry as a whole.”
Mr Ayilaran expressed optimism about the future of the agency and the music industry, just as he reiterated its commitment to transparency, accountability, and effective copyright administration.
Evangelist Aragbaiye was accompanied by an esteemed entourage that included Psalmist (Dr.) Adeolu Afolami; Rev’d (Dr.) Mrs. Olubunmi Bakare; and Comrade Richard Thomas, Editor of Oodua News Newspaper, Ibadan.
Senior officials from MCSN management were also present at the occasion. Among them were Louis Udoh, General Manager, Licensing, and Halim Mohammed, Head of Communications, both of whom contributed to discussions on improving stakeholder engagement and enhancing the society’s communication strategies.
The visit is a significant step toward strengthening collaboration between gospel music leaders, industry associations, and copyright regulatory bodies.
