Lawyer to the late Nigeria prolific goal scorer Rasidi Yekini, Barrister Jubril Mohammed Olanrewaju has frowned at the idea of the Nigeria’s national team the Super Eagles refusal to travel to Marakesh for the Quarter Final match of the on going African Cup Of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco which begins on Friday.
The biennial tournament which has been turned to a four year competition by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) started on December 21, 2025 and will end on January 18,2026.

Super Eagles were in group C with Tanzania, Tunisia and Uganda which it defeated by 2-1,3-2 and 3-1 respectively to book a ticket for the second round where it demolished the Mambas of Mozambic by 4-0 to qualify for the Quarter Finals.

As a result, the Super Eagles are reported to have said that they would not board the plane to Marackesh even though it would train for what is regarded as a grudge match against the Algeria national team.

Recalled that the team was outed at the quarter final of the same competition in 2019 by the Fenecs or the Desert Warriors of Algeria.
Against this background, Barrister Mohammed noted that the idea of refusing to travel was bad in the first place considering that money is not the problem of these players stressing that what they ought to do was bring the matter to the knowledge of Nigerians and then proceeding to Marakesh for the encounter against the Algerians at the quater finals on Saturday.
He explained that with this attitude Nigerians would know that they have done their bits even if they were not paid thereafter.

The Lawyer to late Yekini pointed out that this act does not portray them as a patriot which they want to be perceived as noting that it has done other wise to them when their reputation and image will be dragged in the mud in the public domain.
He stated that this is an international embarrassment for Nigeria when the nation should be seen in good light instead the bonus brouhaha.
