In a letter addressed to the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, also copied to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Prince Tajudeen Olusi, Bamiji disclosed that he has been receiving treatment at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, since the health incident.

He expressed gratitude for his recovery so far but stressed that his condition still requires sustained medical attention.

“It’s been one year since I suffered stroke and have been receiving treatment at UCH, Ibadan. I thank God for the recovery so far, but I still need further treatments, especially physiotherapy and speech therapy, in addition to the costly daily medications,” he wrote.

Bamiji explained that the stroke has left him with severe physical and speech limitations. “I cannot make sustained speech and still cannot withstand simple physical exercise like walking for a few minutes. I also have tremor, which has made it difficult for me to write and type on devices,” he said.

While appreciating the support received from friends and well-meaning individuals, Bamiji specifically acknowledged the financial assistance from the Lagos State Government.

“While appreciating the support from friends and well-meaning individuals, especially the two million naira (N2,000,000) courtesy of His Excellency Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, I still need more support going forward,” he stated.

Bamiji further revealed that his current living conditions and daily expenses have placed additional strain on the donations received, adding that: “I still live in a rented apartment, and feeding is taking a toll on the donations received from well-wishers and good Samaritans.”

Appealing directly to the state government, he called for intervention that would enable him to live with dignity and rebuild his life, saying that: “I am appealing to the Governor and the Government of Lagos State to come to my aid by giving me a shelter and empowering me so that life can go on.”
