Oyo state Governor, Seyi Makinde has declared that his administration will conduct local government election before he leaves office saying that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP is not afraid of the opposition parties in the state..
Governor Makinde disclosed this while inaugurating members of the Oyo state Independent Electoral Commission at the Executive Chambers of the Governor’s Office, Secretariat, Ibadan.
While noting that the tenure of the current chairmen across 33 councils in the state will expire in May, 2027, Governor Makinde said his government is not afraid of the opposition parties in the state.
The governor ,who noted that members of the newly inaugurated Oyo state independent Electoral Commission are people of integrity, urged them to be transparent in the task ahead to move the state forward.
Members of the OYSIEC are Adebiyi Babatunde, chairman, Olatunde Theophilus, Chief Kunmi Agboola, and Mr Sunday Falana.
Others are Remi Ayoade, Olarenwaju Emmanuel, Babatunde Ige and Adebayo Mariam.
