Their magnanimity, vision, and unwavering commitment to the health and welfare of our society have culminated in a monumental gift, a state-of-the-art medical research and training hospital, now proudly bearing their names: “The Modupe and Folorunso Alakija Medical Research and Training Hospital”

In this age of challenges and trials, where the specter of inadequate healthcare looms ever larger, it is individuals like the Alakijas who rise above the cacophony of despair and render aid to their fellow citizens. Their remarkable donation of thirty-four billion Naira, a sum that is not merely a testament to their success but rather a profound reflection of their benevolence, has paved the way for a new dawn in healthcare delivery within our cherished Osun State.

The hospital stands as a veritable citadel of healing, equipped with 250 admission beds and 20 clinical departments, a sanctuary where the sick shall find solace and the weary shall regain their strength. Here, in these hallowed halls, the promise of life and health shall be fulfilled through the provision of maternity and neonatal care, a community health unit, and cutting-edge diagnostic facilities – each serving as a bulwark against the ailments that afflict our populace.

Moreover, the hospital’s four state-of-the-art operating theatres and radiotherapy suites shall bear witness to the triumph of science and compassion, as skilled hands perform miracles and restore hope to those in despair. The 16 intensive care units shall stand ready to embrace the fragile and the afflicted, a testament to the belief that every life is invaluable and worthy of the utmost care.

Yet, let us not merely marvel at the physical structure, for it is the spirit behind this grand endeavor that truly inspires. Apostle Folorunso Alakija, a beacon of entrepreneurial prowess, has combined her remarkable acumen with an abiding sense of duty to her community. Alongside her devoted husband, Chief Modupe Alakija, they have woven a tapestry of hope, one that shall inspire generations to come. Their legacy will resonate not only through the walls of this hospital but also in the hearts of all those who shall benefit from its existence.

As we stand on the precipice of this new chapter in healthcare, let us reflect upon the monumental impact that such acts of kindness can have on our society. The Alakijas have not simply built a hospital; they have ignited a revolution in healthcare delivery, fostering an environment of research and training that shall elevate our medical professionals and enhance the lives of countless individuals.

In the spirit of gratitude and reverence, we at The Yemi Farounbi Colloquium extend our heartfelt congratulations to Apostle Folorunso Alakija and Chief Modupe Alakija. Your unwavering commitment to the betterment of our society exemplifies the very best of our collective humanity. You have forged a legacy that shall endure through the ages, a legacy that shall inspire a generation of philanthropists, healers, and visionaries.

As I pen these words, I am reminded of the indomitable spirit of our people, a spirit that thrives in the face of adversity – a spirit that the Alakijas have so ardently nurtured and championed.

May The Modupe and Folorunso Alakija Medical Research and Training Hospital flourish and serve as a bastion of hope, a sanctuary of healing, and a testament to what can be achieved when love for one’s country and compassion for one’s fellow man unite in purpose.

In closing, let us take heart in the knowledge that we are all part of this noble endeavor. Together, let us strive to uphold the values that the Alakijas so passionately embody, and let our actions echo their legacy of generosity and compassion.

Signed,

His Excellency
