President General of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club Dr Rafiu Oladipo has criticized the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for not listening to advice on how to successfully navigate the 2026 World Cup scheduled for the United States of America, Canada and Mexico.
Speaking in Lagos, Dr Oladipo stated that the leadership of the NFF led by Alhaji Ibrahim Gusua failed to do the needful hence the reason why the Super Eagles and indeed Nigeria shall not be at the next World in 2026.
He explained that the Alhaji Gusua led board refused to pay the Super Eagles players their allowances and match bonuses even when the money was available leading to the latter protesting and failing to be fully concentrated regarding training and the matches against their opponents notably the Democratic Republic of Congo national team.
The President General pointed out that due to the lapses of the NFF, the entire football fraternity in Nigeria will have to watch the Mundial on television adding Nigerian football had been retrogressive for some time with the NFF failing to heeding advice geared towards halting the trend.
“ Nigeria football has been going down for some time and we suggested how to halt this trend and put it on a part of growth but the NFF refused” he observed.
He alleged that the nation football is riddled with corruption which does not allow the NFF to do what will enhance the growth of Nigerian football instead have been engaged in what has continued to plunge Nigeria football on the part of retrogression.
Dr Oladipo posited that the NFF has tendered an apology over the disaster which befell the Super Eagles due to the inability of the team to qualify for the 2026 World Cup in USA, Canada and Mexico stressing the apology will not enable Nigeria participate at the World Cup nor will this improve or grow the nation football if the NFF failed to do the right thing now to halt the retrogression in Nigeria football.
