The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reaffirmed that its 2025 National Convention will proceed as planned on Saturday, November 15, and Sunday, November 16, 2025, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, and jointly signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba—who also serves as Secretary of the Publicity and Communication Sub-Committee of the National Convention Organizing Committee (NCOC)—the party dismissed reports alleging that the convention had been postponed.

Describing such claims as “false and misleading,” the PDP accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of sponsoring misinformation in a “desperate and failed attempt” to disrupt its convention and weaken the opposition.

According to the statement, the alleged actions of the APC form part of a broader scheme to destabilize opposition parties and entrench a one-party system in Nigeria—an agenda the PDP vowed to resist through lawful and democratic means.

“The NCOC and the Party leadership are working tirelessly to ensure a hitch-free and successful National Convention in Ibadan as scheduled,” the statement read in part.

The PDP further expressed appreciation to Nigerians for their “overwhelming support and solidarity,” while welcoming delegates, party leaders, officials, and supporters who have begun arriving in Ibadan ahead of the event.

The 2025 National Convention is expected to bring together key stakeholders, including governors, lawmakers, and other party leaders from across the country, as the PDP maps out strategies toward future national elections.
