In a remarkable display of unity, vision, and self-reliance, the Igba Otun Area Community Development Committee (CDC) has commissioned its first-ever Primary Health Care Centre on Thursday, July 10, 2025, it’s a self-funded project driven by the people and for the people.
The dream began in 2016 after a pivotal visit to Abeokuta, where community leaders were encouraged to initiate their own healthcare project. What once seemed like an insurmountable challenge soon became a shared mission. Nearly a decade later, the dream has been brought to life through the resilience and commitment of the Igba Otun community.
Under the visionary leadership of Are Alhaji Musa Saliman Olusanya, who assumed office as Area CDC Chairman in 2019 and served two terms, the community mobilized resources and formed a dedicated building committee. Through prudent financial management and collective effort, the first phase of the health centre was completed.
At the heart of the commissioning ceremony, held at the new facility located at No. 1 Adekunle Olushoga Street, Alhaji Musa Olusanya emphasized that the health centre was built to ensure that residents have access to prompt and quality healthcare services.
He commended the outstanding performance of the various committees, the community ambassadors, and all invited guests for their invaluable support and presence.
The colorful event was chaired by Alhaji Abdulrahmon Agbesinga and anchored by Mr. Israel Olaoye. It featured a rich program of activities including prayers led by Pastor Solomon Olukunle Samuel and Alhaji Ajala Abiodun Lukmon.
There was paper presentation, and contributions from dignitaries and stakeholders.
A major highlight was the arrival of the Chairman of Ifo Local Government, Hon. Idris Olalekan Kusimo, who delivered a heartfelt address, commissioned the facility, and led guests on a guided tour of the new premises.
To recognize those who played instrumental roles in bringing the project to life, awards were presented to notable contributors, including: Alhaji Abdulrahmon Agbesinga, Engr. Oke Battimo, Chief David Majar, Alhaji Suraj Taiwo Olawale, Prince Waidi Adeyanju and Prophetess Modupeola Ilupeju
In addition, key financial supporters were specially recognized for their generosity and dedication to the project. These included: Prince Waidi Adeyanju, Mr. Preye Alexander Jesse, Mr. Tanimowo Oladele, Chief David Majaro, Alhaji, Abdulrahmon Agbesinga and Prophetess Modupeola Ilupeju
The vibrant atmosphere was further energized by cultural performances. The women’s wing lit up the event with traditional music and dancing, while the youth group delivered a spirited drama that celebrated the power of unity and communal resilience.
In his closing remarks, Outgoing Chairman Aare Alhaji Musa Saliman Olusanya extended his heartfelt appreciation to all who have support for the successful delivery of the Health center . He expressed his pride in the collective achievement and urged the community to continue nurturing the spirit of self-help and development.
This new health centre stands as a lasting symbol of hope, resilience, and people-powered development — a legacy that will serve generations to come in Igba Otun.
