Professor Okosisi Nwolise of the department of political science of the university of Ibadan has adduced reasons why he and his colleagues Otu- Umunna of the high institution accepted His Royal Highness (HRH) late Eze Dr Alex Anozie as their Ezendigbo of Ibadan and Oyo state.
Speaking during a lecture with the theme “ SUSTAINABLE IDEALS OF EZE DR ALEX ANOZIE “ Prof Nwolise stated the late Ezendigbo was elected among Ndigbo through the the Ohanaeze Ndigbo after which the Eze Gburugburu in Nigeria the late Ikemba of Nnewi Chief Odumegwu Ojukwu raised his hands as one at his birthday celebrations at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan.
He noted that he was not only recognized as Ezendigbo in Oyo state but also in the diaspora adding that his emergence was not controversial neither was he a violent cultural leader as he conducted all his activities in the atmosphere of peace.
Prof Nwolise explained that he even extended his peaceful nature to his private business stressing that “I would be discussing with him when one of his staff would come that a customer did not have enough money to cover his or her services and he would respond by saying collect whatever he or she has”
He lamented that it was unfortunate that the late Eze Dr Anozie was a very peaceful man who worked for the unity and progress of Ndigbo whom his opponents did not allow to enjoy peace during his lifetime and reign as Ezendigbo in Ibadan and Oyo state.
The emeritus Prof however sued for peace while requesting to know why a new Ohanaeze Ndigbo World wide would be formed while there was an existing Ohanaeze Ndigbo of Oyo state that has been existing after its affiliation since the year 2000.
He enjoined everyone to work towards the unity and peaceful coexistence of Ndigbo in Oyo state noting that nothing meaningful can be achieved in the atmosphere of chaos.
