The Obidient Movement in Oyo State has held a reconciliation and stakeholders’ meeting, aimed at resolving internal differences and fostering unity within the group.
The meeting was attended by the State Coordinator, Mr Ayo Akinyemi, and members of the Aggrieved Team led by Comrade Abolade.
During the meeting, participants engaged in open and constructive dialogue aimed at addressing lingering grievances and restoring cohesion within the group. Several key resolutions were adopted to chart a new course for the movement.
Among them was the formal invalidation of all previously issued letters of appointment, which stakeholders agreed was necessary to ensure transparency and inclusiveness moving forward.
A seven-member Transition Committee was also established to manage the restructuring process. The committee is tasked with overseeing leadership reorganisation, facilitating broader consultation among members, and laying the groundwork for a more unified operational structure across the state.
In a notable development, Mr Akinyemi voluntarily stepped down as State Coordinator, explaining his decision to the success of Peter Obi’s 2027 presidential bid outweighed any personal ambition.
His resignation was received with commendation from members of both sides, who described the move as a demonstration of selflessness and dedication to the larger vision of the movement.
The meeting concluded with a renewed pledge by all parties to work together in unity, strengthen internal coordination, and reposition the Obidient Movement as a credible and organised force within the political landscape of Oyo State.
