Rotary Club of Olambe, Iju-Ishaga Empower Nursing Mothers, Babies in Oke Aro, Ogun State

To kick off the 2025/2026 Rotary year and reaffirm their commitment to community service, the Rotary Club of Olambe in collaboration with the Rotaract Club of Iju-Ishaga organized a maternal and child health outreach at the Oke Aro Town Primary Health Centre, Ifo Local Government Area, Ogun State.

The event, themed “Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies,” commenced at 11:00 AM with a call to order by United  President Rotary Club of Olambe , Fidelis Fasuyi.

 In his opening remarks, he emphasized that the initiative aligns with Rotary International’s focus on Maternal and Child Health, stating, “This project reflects our unwavering commitment to building stronger families and healthier communities. “By empowering mothers with knowledge and support, we are investing in the future of Oke Aro.”

Health education was delivered by Dr. Olalekan Oke (represented by Mrs. Olukunle Olurantin) and Rotarian. Dr. Olujimi Ogbonyomi, who advised mothers to adhere strictly to medical guidance, maintain hygiene, and prioritize nutrition by increasing intake of vegetables, fruits, and protein-rich foods. 

They stressed that a mother’s well-being directly impacts her child’s development. An interactive session factor into the programme allowed mothers to ask questions and receive personalized guidance.

The programme concluded with the distribution of mother’s care items and light refreshments. Nursing mothers and staff of the health centre expressed heartfelt appreciation to Rotary for the timely and impactful intervention.

Present at the event were Unite for.Good President Fidelis Fasuyi, Rtn. ESV Bayo Modeyin(IPP), Rtn. Engr. Akinwande Moshekunla, Rtn. Dr. Olujimi Ogbonyomi, Rtn. David Ogbeide, and Rtn. Bimuyo Kolawole, alongside Rotaractor Maryanne Nwachukwu and Rotaractor Khaliat Ibrahim of the Rotaract Club of Iju-Ishaga.

The outreach ended at 12:00 PM with a group photograph, marking a successful service activity that reinforced Rotary’s mission of service above self.
