The National Museum of Unity, Ibadan, is set to welcome new participants for its second and third training batches.

The development followed the success of its first 10-day training, held from the 1st to 12th of September, 2025, the Capacity Building Programme 2025 at National Museum of Unity, Ibadan, Oyo State
The programme, organised by the National Commission for Museums and Monuments (NCMM) under the leadership of Director General Mr. Olugbile Holloway, and delivered through the museum’s education unit, has already begun transforming the lives of the underprivileged, particularly women, through practical skill acquisition in traditional textile design.
The initiative is coordinated and facilitated by Dr. Olatunde Caroline Oluyemi, whose thoughtful planning has helped to merge the richness of traditional textile craft with the urgency of grassroots empowerment
During the just-concluded first batch, participants explored over 20 Adire, Batik, and Eleko dyeing techniques, gaining new self-sustaining skills and renewed confidence and purpose.
With support from Museum Curator Mrs. Oriyomi Pamela Otuka and the education team, registration is now open for the following two cohorts: September 15–27 and September 30 –October 10.
The training covers the fabrics, dyes, and equipment, each participant will use throughout the exercise, ensuring every learner has the tools to practice and master their craft.
The programme will conclude with a vibrant closing ceremony on October 10, 2025, during which participants from all three batches will showcase their finished works and receive certificates of achievement.
For those looking to learn, earn, and grow through culture, this is more than training; it is a turning point for them to have an edge during this national economic downturn.
