The remains of Alhaji Rahman Onike, the Deputy Registrar, Students Affairs at the Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora has been laid to rest at the Muslim cemetery in Oyo Town.
Sympathizers thronged out to bid farewell to the illustrious son of Oyo, Students advocate and freedom fighter as he bid the world farewell.
A 3-day Fridaos prayer will hold in his honour on Sunday, September 14, 2025 at Atiba Town Hall, Akesan by 9.00am.
Meanwhile, the Management, both Past and Present, Deans, Directors, Heads of Departments, Associates within and Abroad, Colleagues, Friends, Staff and Students of Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora have continued to pay glowing tributes to the late prolific writer and seasoned Administrator, who breadth his last on Thursday, September 11, 2025.
The Rector, Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora, Professor Akinola Akinlabi, who spoke on behalf of the Management stated, “We are devastated and shocked by the sudden demise of a highly resourceful Staff and former Congregation Representative on the Governing Council, may Almighty Allah grant the Institution, family and friends the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”
OYSCATECH Former Rector and former acting Provost of College of Agriculture and Renewable Resources, Iseyin Campus of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Professor Gbemiga Adewale in his condolence Message said, he received the sad news with rude shock adding that the news of the passing of Alhaji Rahman Onike was devastating.
Prof. Adewale described him as a loyal and committed Staff who served various administrations diligently. He noted that his legacy of dedication and service will continue to linger in the minds of many, while praying God to comfort OYSCATECH Community, friends and family.
Prof. Lateef Sanni, the immediate past Governing Council Chairman and the Executive Director, Nigeria Stored Products Research Institute (NSPRI) also expressed shock at the news, just as he extolled his dedication and significant contributions to the immediate past Governing Council and OYSCATECH Community at large. He prayed the Almighty Allah to repose his soul.
Mr. Niyi Fehintola, a former Registrar described his death as painful, while stating that the institution has lost an astute Administrator.
Mr. Paul Oyediran, a former acting Registrar who described Alhaji Onike’s Death as saddened, prayed that the Almighty God comfort all on every side.
Dr. Olatunji Olaojo, former Polytechnic Librarian for OYSCATECH and current Librarian of Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, Saki, Dr. Sarafa Agbogun, the immediate Past Bursar, Dr. Taiwo Akinyemi, the immediate past Deputy Rector, former Governing Council Members and Dr. Oluyemi Ayanboye, former Chairman Committee of Deans have sent in their condolence messages as they prayed the Almighty to comfort and grant the institution the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

They all expressed shock at the sudden exit of Mr. Rahman Onike, while describing him as a unique leader, mentor, advocate and pillar of support who invested in the growth of others.
Until his death, Mr. Onike was immediate past congregation representative on the Governing Council of the Institution, a Deputy Registrar, Prolific writer, Public Speaker, respected Comrade, Activist and diligent Staff.
He joined the services of Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora as an Administrative Officer II in 2008 and rose to the position of a Deputy Registrar.
He was an Alumnus of Saint Andrew’s College, Oyo, University of Ibadan, and Olivet High School among others.
