
Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo, Oyo State has made a significant position in redefining and repositioning the standards of higher education mandate in the country for greater national and global relevance.
The development was a paradigm shift from teacher-centred methods to learner-centred methods, a resolve to best alternative, where learners become the key figures with instructions designed to learners differences.
About ten redefining positions were made at the well attended 4-day annual conference which took place at the 500-seater University Hall with influential figures all in attendance.
Guests include scholars, policymakers, educational administrators, and stakeholders from the six geopolitical zones in Nigeria who all made fascinating analysis and shed more light on the evolving education landscape amid global trends with the theme “Higher Education Mandate In Mega Global Trends”.
The communique made available to newsmen and signed by the Chairman, Communiqué Committee, Dr Grace O. Akanbi; the Secretary Dr A. E. Adesina; and member, Dr S. R. Amao provided a blueprint for Nigerian educational stakeholders who are also government, regulators, administrators, faculty, students, and the private sector.
The occasion was a call for collaboration and urgent implementation to shift institutions from reactive to transformative roles, thereby fostering a prosperous, knowledgeable Nigeria and Africa.
Key positions taken at the conference include Integration of 21st-Century Soft Skills; Education Stakeholders should Intensify Competency-Based Learning; Leveraging more Technology-Enabled Learning; Strategic Response to Mega Global Trends (MGTs); Repositioning Curricula for Global Relevance
Other includes: Reinvestment in Faculty and Infrastructure; Reinforcing Access, Equity, Mobility and Value-based Education; Industry-Academia Partnerships; and Introduction of Climate Change Concepts to Basic Education and Building of Sustainable Agricultural Development Framework.
