Ekiti 2026: Media expert Olawale Ogunyebi decamps to APC, endorses Gov. Oyebanji for second term

In a significant development, Media Expert , and Coordinator of Olawale Solidarity Movement in Ekiti State, Olawale Ezekiel Ogunyebi has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and pledged his support for Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s second term in office. The defection ceremony took place at Ogunyebi’s country home in Isinbode Ekiti, Ayeikire Local Government Area of Ekiti State.

Ogunyebi cited Governor Oyebanji’s fulfillment of campaign promises, particularly the construction of the Isinbode/Ara/Ikole Road and restoration of electricity to the town after 13 years of darkness, as key reasons for his decision. He expressed admiration for the governor’s working style and passion for Ekiti State’s development.

As a former PDP image maker, Ogunyebi promised to vigorously mobilize support for APC and Governor Oyebanji across Ayeikire Local Government and Ekiti State, as well as President Tinubu’s 2027 Presidential Election bid. He also pledged to support Isinbode Ward with ₦5,000 monthly for meetings. Additionally, Ogunyebi commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s achievements, including economic improvements,Coastal road projects and the payment of student loans through NELFUND among other things.

The event was attended by prominent leaders, including;

  • Former House of Assembly Member: Hon. Ogunrinde Olasehinde, who eulogized Ogunyebi as a straightforward and humble personality well-known in Ekiti State.
  • Former Chairman, Ayeikire Local Government: Hon. Fadumiye (Avenger)
  • Executive Secretary, Ayeikire Local Government: Hon. Esan Ogunjobi
  • Board Members: Hon.Alhaji Ajibade Muraina and Hon Okunola Henry
  • Ward Chairman: Mr. Johnson Ilesanmi
  • L.G Woman Leader: Mrs. Taiwo Kayode
  • Ward woman Leader; Mrs Modupe Ajibola
  • Former Councilor: Hon. Mrs. Omotoyinbo

Ogunyebi’s younger brother, Hon. Oluwasola Ogunyebi, a former councilorship aspirant at Isinbode Ekiti, and other supporters also joined APC alongside him. This development is expected to boost Governor Oyebanji’s re-election bid and strengthen the APC’s position in Ekiti State.
