The Olubadan-designate and former Governor of Oyo State, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has arrived in Ibadan amid widespread jubilation.
Ladoja, who was nominated as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, returned to the city after a brief convalescence in Lagos.
Upon his arrival, Ladoja visited his family house in Born Photo, Isale-Osi, before proceeding to his private residence on Ondo Street. In a statement to newsmen, Ladoja expressed gratitude to God for sparing his life and ordaining him as the Olubadan.
Ladoja noted the coincidence of being born in 1944 and becoming the 44th Olubadan, thanking God for counting him worthy. He also appreciated the Olubadan-in-Council for nominating him and pledged to strengthen their relationship.
The next step in the coronation process is for Governor Seyi Makinde to announce a date for the ceremony. Ladoja prayed for peace and development in Ibadanland under his reign.
Ladoja’s nomination was unanimously approved by the Olubadan-in-Council on April 4, 2025, following a 21-day mourning period for the late 43rd Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin. The State Governor is expected to ratify the council’s decision and set a date for the presentation of the staff of office.
