The hope of Osun PDP elected officers who defected into APC dwindled yesterday as APC reportedly declined their request to be given automatic tickets into the Senate and House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections.
A credible source from the Presidency confirmed that Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi, Senator Olubiiyi Fadeyi Ajagunla and Hon. Busayo Oluwole Oke in the company of another member of House of Representatives whose name was not known went to the President for affirmation of their automatic tickets ahead of 2027 but met a brick wall.
During the discussion inside the Presidential Villa, they were reportedly told to wait for the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola and a few Osun leaders in order to have a seamless discussion.
Our contact said immediately Senator Fadahunsi mentioned automatic ticket, those who were with the Minister allegedly flared up and insisted there couldn’t be automatic ticket for anybody, insisting the Osun PDP media boys have been carrying rumours that it is only PDP candidates that can win elections and they want to prove them wrong.
At the high point of it, the President’s representative at the meeting told the leader of the party in Osun, Alhaja Oyetola to go and meet with them and resolve the matter with strict instructions not to hurt anybody.
Upon getting to another venue of the meeting, it was learnt that the leadership of Osun APC told them to go and prepare for the party’s primary because they also have people who are interested in contesting the positions they are interested in.
At that juncture, the PDP defectors went home disappointed, especially because of the statement of one of the APC leaders who said “the defectors should remember that they have been ‘settled’ before dropping their resignation letters.”
It was gathered that efforts of Senators to meet the President were rebuffed by the protocol department in the villa and they left the Presidential Villa in regrets.
