The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Edward Ogundoyin, joined eminent personalities, traditional rulers, political leaders, and well-wishers at Olivet Baptist High School, Oyo Town, to celebrate the 50th birthday of the Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Abimbola Owoade, Ikubabayeye I.

Accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Olamidun Ogundoyin, the Speaker described the monarch’s golden jubilee as a significant milestone in the history of the ancient Oyo Kingdom. He noted that the new Alaafin has already exhibited signs of purpose-driven leadership and royal distinction.
In his goodwill message during the colourful ceremony, Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin congratulated the Alaafin on attaining 50 in good health and high esteem, offering heartfelt prayers for divine wisdom akin to that of King Solomon to guide his reign.
“Your Imperial Majesty, I join millions across Yorubaland and beyond in celebrating your 50th birthday. As you ascend the sacred throne of your forebears, may God bless you with uncommon wisdom, strength, and vision to lead the Oyo Kingdom to greater heights. May your reign bring peace, unity, cultural renaissance, and unprecedented development—not only to Oyo Town and Oyo State but to the entire Yoruba nation,” he said.
The Speaker also reaffirmed the Oyo State House of Assembly’s commitment to supporting traditional institutions and working collaboratively with the Alaafin and other royal fathers to drive grassroots development and preserve Yoruba heritage.
The event drew a distinguished gathering of royal fathers, government officials, members of the Oyo Mesi, lawmakers, political stakeholders, and citizens from across the state and beyond.
