The President of Abia Youth Association in Oyo state Henry Orji has urged the new President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide Senator Azuta Mbata to intervene in the case of Nnamdi Kanu instead of allowing him to wallow in the custody of the State Security Service (DSS).
Speaking in Ibadan Orji popularly known as Okwute Mmiri Abia explained that it was time the leadership of the apex Igbo socio cultural group interfaced with the federal government led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the case of Kanu who is being prosecuted by the federal government for charges bordering on terrorism at the federal high court in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)
He argued that having been initially acquitted by a court of charges initially preferred against him by the federal government the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) leader should be released forthwith without any charges anymore.
Orji posited that this can be done through the intervention of the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide which can guarantee the release of the IPOB leader .
The Abia Youth boss observed that the idea of allowing Kanu to languish in the DSS custody and taking him through many courts cases is not the best recipe for peace in the south east which has been ravaged by insecurity of lives and properties by unknown gunmen who have b killing people with reckless abandon.
He submitted that the reason there is insecurity in the south east is due to the detention of the IPOB leader at the DSS custody and his subsequent prosecution by the federal government under trump up charges adding that the insecurity in the south east will end whenever Kanu is released.
