The revered monarch died on Sunday, just hours after President Bola Tinubu announced the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari, a longtime friend of the Awujale.

Oba Adetona was one of Nigeria’s longest-reigning traditional rulers, having ascended the throne on April 2,1960, and was widely respected as a prominent voice among Yoruba monarchs and across the country.

Details surrounding his death are still emerging, with official statements from the palace and the Ogun State government expected soon.
