In a proactive move to ensure a peaceful and secure Democracy Day celebration, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Oyo State Command, has conducted a strategic and tactical deployment of personnel across the 33 local government areas of the State.
This operation is aimed at safeguarding critical national assets and infrastructure, and maintaining public order throughout the commemorative activities on June 12, 2025.
The State Commandant, Commandant Augustine Padonu, disclosed that the deployment involves special tactical squads, surveillance and rapid response teams to monitor and secure government buildings, public utilities, transport hubs, communication infrastructure, and other sensitive points considered vulnerable to threats or disruption.
Commandant Padonu has emphasized the Corps’ unwavering commitment to national security, especially during events of national significance. “The NSCDC, as part of the nation’s internal security architecture, will not allow any individual or group to sabotage the peace and progress of the state.
He said, “We are fully prepared to neutralize any threats and ensure that Democracy Day is celebrated peacefully across Oyo State,” Commandant Padonu stated.
He further appealed to residents to remain law-abiding and go about their legitimate activities without fear, assuring them that the Corps is working in synergy with other security agencies to provide adequate security.

Commandant Padonu reiterated the Corps’ readiness to respond swiftly to any emergency, urging citizens to report suspicious movements or activities to the nearest NSCDC office.
