
The Oyo State Government, through the State Hospitals’ Management Board (OYSHMB), in collaboration with Lead City University, has awarded full scholarships to eight hospital secretaries to pursue Master’s and Postgraduate programmes in Hospital Administration. This initiative aims to enhance effective and efficient service delivery across health facilities in the state.

The announcement was made by the Chairman of OYSHMB, Dr. Akin Fagbemi, during a meeting with hospital secretaries held at the Conference Room of the Ministry of Health, Secretariat, Ibadan.
Dr. Fagbemi expressed appreciation to Governor Seyi Makinde (FNSE) for his continued support of the health sector. He cited the recent donation of medical equipment to the Ring Road State Hospital (RRSH) as an example of the governor’s commitment to improving healthcare delivery for the people of Oyo State.
He emphasized the vital role hospital secretaries play as the “engine room” of healthcare facilities and stressed the importance of including them in decision-making processes to improve service outcomes.
Dr. Fagbemi also encouraged the scholarship recipients to be exemplary ambassadors of the state, urging them to support one another and work as a team to achieve academic and professional success.
He further commended Lead City University for its collaborative role in staff development and the ongoing partnership with OYSHMB.
In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Board, Dr. Anifat Ibraheem, congratulated the eight recipients and urged them to uphold the values of excellence and integrity, representing Oyo State with pride throughout their academic journey.
Also present at the meeting were the Director of Hospital Administration, Mr. Oladipo Olatunde, and hospital administrators from various facilities across the state.
