
The Archbishop of Ibadan Ecclesiastical Province and the Bishop of Ibadan North Anglican Diocese, His Grace, the Most Rev. Williams Oluwarotimi Aladekugbe has called on Christians to remain steadfast in the face of mirage of challenges facing our the country.
The message was delivered during the opening ceremony of the 3rd Session of the 9th Synod of Ibadan North Anglican Diocese held at St Paul’s Anglican church, Yemetu, Ibadan.
Archbishop Aladekugbe urged those in authority to always speak the truth to move Nigeria forward and do the needful to restore the lost glory of the nation.
In his words, “This is not Nigeria of our dream, we are anxious to have the nation of our dream where the foundation will be the truth and nothing but the truth, where we will not suffer in the midst of plenty and be our brothers’ keeper, where peace will reign supreme and there will be security of lives and property, the clergy further admonished.
The highly revered man of God enjoined Christians not to compromise their faith because of their desire to amass wealth, lust for power and promotion among others.
In his sermon, the guest preacher who is the Lord Bishop of Kabba Diocese, the Right Rev. Steve Akobe encouraged Nigerians to emulate Jesus Christ the author perfecter and finisher of our faith in our ways and change our bad attitudes and do the right things at the right time
According to him, though things are too tough in Nigeria, we must summon courage to distinguish ourselves by being the light of the world.
Dignitaries from all walks of life who attended the opening ceremony included Bishops, clergy and their wives, legal luminaries,laity and other invited guests.
The theme for 2025 Synod is ” In times like these”.
