
The Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress, Oyo State Chapter, Comrade Kayode Martins, has charged media practitioners in the country to be objective and maintain high standard in media profession in order to protect the image and preserve the integrity of the profession.
Comrade Kayode Martins gave the charge in Ibadan while receiving Exemplary Leadership Award from the management of Oodua News Newspaper at the NLC headquarters in Ibadan on Wednesday April 30, 2025.
According to him, while the media who are members of the fourth estate of the realm play the role of watch dog in the society, there is the need for them to preserve their image with integrity.
Comrade Martins, who noted that the role of the media in our society cannot be. overemphasized, stressed the need for them to abide by the ethics of the profession.

“The role of the media in any society cannot be over emphasized, hence they need to be objective in order to protect their integrity.
Speaking on the award, the NLC boss thanked the management of Oodua News Newspaper for the honor, describing the gesture as very encouraging.
He said the development would further strengthen and inspire him to channel his strength towards the good course and well-being of the civil servants in the state.
He admonished the managements of media organizations in the country to continue to organize in-house trainings, seminar and provide logistics to enhance the services and other editorial activities of Journalists serving in their organizations.

Speaking at the occasion, the Deputy editor of Oodua News Newspaper, Comrade Bode Akinbode described the responses of the awardee as very encouraging, adding that Oodua News would not compromise its standard.
He recalled that the Newspaper company which was established in September 22, 2001 has since commenced been championing the cause and unity of the Yoruba race with factual and adequate reportage

address, the editor of the Newspaper, Comrade Richard Thomas said the award presented to the NLC Chairman, Comrade Kayode Martins was based on his quality leadership and unwavering commitment to the progress of the labour movement, Civil Service and economy of the state.
He then admonished members of the NLC in the state to emulate the gestures of Comrade Martins in order to move the NLC forward.
