The Chairman of Adewale Group of Club Olanrewaju Micheal Adewale has regretted the non qualification of Oyo state teams to the forthcoming National Sports Festival ( NSF) billed for Ogun state next month.
The zonal ball elimination was held at the Obafemi Awolowo stadium and the Ilaji Sports and Resorts with Oyo state male and female teams being unable to qualify.
Speaking in Ibadan at the Weekend, Adewale noted that this development is not wholesome and palatable as it speaks of the state of football administration in Oyo state.
He observed that the players that were used to eliminate Oyo state from the games were trained and nurtured in Ibadan and poached by Lagos, Osun and Ogun state adding that the problem was the inability to motivate the players which played for Oyo state.
Specifically, Adewale explained that the players were asked to submit their account number with a promise that it would be credited pointing out that till date nothing in this regard has been done.
He bemoaned the situation where players would be nurtured and developed in Oyo state and precisely in Ibadan only to be used by neighboring states to beat and eliminate Oyo state from a competition.
Adewale therefore enjoined the administrator in Oyo state to go into the grassroots and set up a sustainable structure that will enable the state to have a good female team as his which is well motivated and encouraged.
“ As we speak my players are in Remo , Ogun state where they are being camped “ he revealed.
“ The reason is that I want them to go through certain things that will prepare them for the future in spite of the fact that they are secondary school students from SS1 to SS3” he disclosed.
“The essence of doing this is to toughen them and prepare them for the future “ said Adewale “ If I can do this by God grace in conjunction with some parents , then Oyo state should endeavor to do better by having good preparation and sustainable structure for their players”
